my lil sis is having a lil one of her own!!! She is approaching her 2nd trimester so I’m finally able to share it with the world. It is very exciting for us all…my kiddos and hers won’t be too many years apart and they can grow up together! My sis and I were worried about that since she’s 5 years younger than I am. Oh…and I’m crossing my fingers that she eventually quits her job and moves closer to me :) How fun would that be! My kids love her and any time my phone rings, they think it’s her. And when it is her, they HAVE to talk to her in their oh-so-shy voices. CONGRATS LIL SIS!!! Can’t wait to make lots of softies for your lil one!

Other news…we are taking a mini vaca next week to San Diego. Our last vaca to Hawaii was not a well rested, relaxing one. We knew that traveling with twins would be a challenge (they were 1.5 at that time) but…let’s just say, my husband and I couldn’t wait to get home. So we swore that we would not do another plane trip until they were older. Can’t wait to visit the zoo and Sea World. Kids are so excited and have been talking about it for days. In fact, every night we read about all the animals/sea creatures we will be seeing. Let’s just hope this vaca turns out to be better.

Crafty news…we have been thinking about diversifying our dolls. So hopefully soon, you will start to see these girls in the shop. Not sure if getting a darker color cotton or staining the lighter one will look better so I’ll need to do some experimenting. I have yet to take pictures of my lil boy paperweight. Oops! I had taken a bunch but never downloaded them…don’t know where my head is sometimes.

I added so many details to him and he turned out very spiffy. I’m thinking about making a big version of him when I get back. Here he is with his g-friend!

That’s it for now. The weather went from being in the 90s to the 70s. It has been so windy and gloomy the past couple of days. If only I could just jump into bed and take a long nap…if only…

So finally the tags we ordered are here!  I’m super excited to go to the post office to pick them up.  I’m bummed that the sender required a signature from me and since I work full time, the post office man left one of those notes to come tomorrow to pick them up.  I’ll post pics tomorrow of our lil tags!

I decided to try a paperweight because big sis kept raving about how quickly they can be made, and she was right!  I was able to sew, stuff, and finish the doll in record time.  Here is another Chloe paperweight that will be added to our shop tomorrow.

I decided to make a bucket she could hold that would actually be functional – so voila~  She can hold paperclips, push pins, small lil trinkets, you name it.   Big sis has a cute boy she’ll be adding to our collection later this week, and he looks so precious in his boyish outfit.

We’ve been going crazy over our fabrics that just came in, and I squealed with delight when my package came in the mail yesterday.  Here is what some of our dolls will be wearing pretty soon —

I can’t wait!

I can’t also wait for ‘So you think you can dance’ which starts 5/22…

I survived.

My kids had a blast at their birthday party. Didn’t get to sew much for obvious reasons but I did manage to make them these characters.

It’s a silly cartoon character. I was so excited for them to open these up, but I couldn’t compete with Thomas the train, Lil Pets, and all the other presents :( Oh well, I had fun making them and they have found a home in their cribs :)

Here are two girls that I have been working on.

Taylor, the red head, is in the shop. She’s so cute with her tiny freckles! I’ve been struggling with her lil friend. Should she carry a book bag? Should she wear a shawl? a scarf? I love the lil bows that the girls are wearing. I had some fabric left after making their tops so I just used the scraps to make tiny bows for their hair. I hate wasting fabric so these tiny pieces came in handy…just takes a bit of patience and time.

My sis and I finally ordered some Japanese fabric. CANNOT wait to see them, hold them, use them! So very excited! They will look so darling on the girls.

We have some exciting things happening in our lives right now…but I will have to hold my tongue for now. I always seem to jinx things. I know, don’t you hate it when people bring up things and then say “never mind”. Oh…the suspense. We shall all find out in the next couple of weeks. Until then, happy Wednesday!

Before I begin, I just want to give a shout out to silliesmile and thank her (which is long overdue) for the fabric swap we did several weeks ago!  I scored some cute chenille fabric, Japanese kawaii swatches, and a bunch of colorful, geometric ones as well!  Check out her etsy shop – she sells one of a kind bibs for a GREAT price!

Fabric Swap My goodies!

So big sis and I have been contemplating on making tags and adding them to our store.  I love tags and think they are such a fun way of personalizing a gift or using them to just write a sweet note and giving them to friends and family.  Also, they would be great scrapbook fillers as all the products we would use are acid free and lignin free.

The first batch of tags will probably be geared towards baby gift tags, so I’ve been thinking of cute, cuddly creatures to draw and came up with a lion.

I tried to draw an elephant, but the trunk keeps coming out distorted and a bit sad-looking!  I gotta keep practicing!

Anyhow, I love the tags from Paper Princess especially the monogram scalloped tags, which btw are sold out!

They’re just so whimsical (added that word to my vocab ever since I joined etsy…isn’t it such an “etsy” word)??

My hubby is my BFF and my harshest critic. In his defense, his mind is programmed to be all about business, being practical, being efficient, etc. Can you guess what he does for a living?

When my sis and I decided to start our Etsy shop, we didn’t really do too much research on it. We were just excited about crafting and hoping that other people would like our stuff. There are no regrets on my end about our start but I am starting to wonder if I actually NEEDED to do some researching. Etsy is just as crazy as Ebay!!! They have forums out there to tell you how to sell, how to market yourself, how to price items, how to do this and that, what not to do, what to do, you get the picture. If we had opened the shop pre-twins, maybe I would have done that. Being a bit of an over achiever, perhaps I would have read about everything, created my spreadsheets (actually have my husband do it…I’m so terrible when it comes to Excel), done a survey, took a poll, again you get the picture…but I unfortunately did not have the time and mindset to do so. Bare with me…remember I like to ramble…so does that mean I’m not serious about my shop? My hubby would probably say “no”. He probably would think that since I didn’t do all of that stuff, our shop is not a true “business”. Which make me wonder…what is our end goal? And do we really need to have one?

Don’t really know where I am going with all of this, just wanted to put it out there.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Big sis

I have one kid up and one down so I have a quick second to let you all know about our new project.

They are PAPERWEIGHTS!!! How cute are they! I know I’m a bit biased…my daughter loves them too. I think it’s because they are so tiny, standing at about 6 inches tall. They fit perfectly in her hands. I’ve had to hide the ones for sale in the closet. OMG…what she would do if she saw this closet full of dolls!

The one in the middle is in the shop. What are your thoughts on the legs? She’s the first one I did and I thought it was cute that her legs just dangled off the bookshelf. But you know my critics…hubby and sis…thought they looked a bit goofy/unfinished. The other two are “legless” but so so very cute because they so so very tiny!

Where I got the name? My daughter thinks that all dolls are called “Chloe”. Her first doll that she received during Christmas was named “Chloe” and so she seems to think that all dolls are called Chloe as well. So I just went with it.

OK…both are up now. Let me know what you think?
