I was checking out Tall Mouse’s blog and guess what? Our tiny booth was pictured in their Handmade Brigade post. So exciting to see!

BTW, if you have never been to Tall Mouse and need some cute fabric (way cuter than Joann’s…although I visit Joann’s on a weekly basis), you should check it out. Their fabrics are much more expensive than Joann’s but definitely worth the price.

going to classes (classes for my twins, that is) alone. It is quite silly, I suppose. I do everything else with them by myself…take them to the park, take them the museum, the zoo, the market, the dreaded post office, you get the picture. But I’m so hesitant about taking them to classes alone. I may have become a little dependent on my mother-in-law. Since I started enrolling them, she has always accompanied me. It makes my life SOOOO much easier when I have another person with me, as you can imagine.

So now that they are a bit older, I have decided that I must master this! The only problem is…my daughter is very spirited (aka feisty as heck!) and when she decides to get upset, I just leave the class knowing that my mother-in-law will stay with my son. Guess the only way I’ll figure out how to handle her behaviors will be to immerse myself in it and figure it out then.

Since I’m on the subject of my twins…have you guys watched Jon and Kate Plus 8? I started watching the show when mine were born and Kate was such an inspiration to me. The fact that she can juggle her 8 kids AND be SO organized. When I would have tough days, I just reminded myself that there was someone out there who had alot more on her plate than I did. But sad to say, I find myself getting very annoyed with her now! The way she treats her husband was amusing in the beginning but now it’s just sad :( I feel so bad for him when I watch how she “reprimands” him on TV! I know, he’s a fool for taking it and allowing her to speak in that manner but it doesn’t make it right. And her OCD…how can you not allow your kids to get dirty when taking them to a bakery to make cupcakes or paint pottery when you are the one taking them there. I know, I have a choice to watch or turn to another channel but her kids are so darn cute! I guess Kate’s behaviors are another reminder to me…that I MUST NOT be so OCD when it comes to my kids getting dirty or messy.

On the crafty side…lil sis has been busy working on some custom orders and me…let’s just say I’ve been working at a snail’s pace! I’m hoping to have a few dolls completed by next week. We are working on adding a slightly different design to some of the dolls so be sure to stay tuned.

Big sis

You might be reading the title and wondering what I’m going to write. Well, it’s pretty disappointing. I’m disappointed, my co-worker is disappointed…it’s just plain wrong! This is gonna be long…

My co-worker had a flat tire yesterday, so she drove to work with a spare. Well lo and behold, when she was leaving work to go home, she noticed her spare was flat. So she called me at work and asked if I could take her to the tire store to get her original tire fixed. We went to the tire store, got the tire patched up, and I brought her back to work to her car. My immediate thought was well, wait a minute…who is going to change your tire from your spare to this tire?

My co-worker said she knew how to change a tire and that it wasn’t going to be a problem. She insisted that I go home since I already did enough for her. Well, I couldn’t do that. Even with my preg self, I knew I wasn’t going to be much help, but I stood by her for support. I have never changed a tire nor have I seen someone do it, but I figured I could at least hand her the tools???

She started raising the jack, and tried to loosen the lugnuts but NO LUCK. By this time, it was a little past 5:00PM – the prime time of when people are going home. I figured that my co-worker could depend on one of the guys at work to help loosen the lugnuts. At least 6 guys passed us…some stared, some smirked, and some just plain ignored us. My co-worker and I didn’t know any of these guys because our company is HUGE and we probably only know 10% of the people that work in our office. But still, is that an excuse for these men to walk by and not ask us if we needed help?

Finally, after being super annoyed with the situation, I grabbed the next guy that was walking to the parking lot and asked if he could help. He said sure, did his thing, and then went on his merry way. He didn’t ask if we needed help with changing the tire out, nor did he really comment on anything else. He just left! Now I understand people want to go home to their kids, families, happy hour, wherever and whatever their situation may be…but c’mon. If there are ladies that need help (one being pregnant!), wouldn’t you just give up 10-15 minutes of your time? Then I thought, maybe these pathetic guys didn’t want to embarrass themselves by offering help only to realize they didn’t know what to do.

My co-worker said she could finish changing the tire so she continued to do her thing. I continued to count the number of men walking to their cars as she was on her hands and knees trying to replace the tire.

As I was thinking what a disappointed day this was to see men and even women pretty much walking past us like we didn’t exist, our shuttle bus dropped off a sweet, caring young gentleman to help finish our work. The bus driver kept apologizing to us that he couldn’t stop to help, but we understood that his job was on the line if he stopped his bus routine. So he asked E to help us.

E completed the work, and even taught us a few things along the way. After 45 minutes and about 15 men passing us by, the tire was replaced and we both were able to go home. We texted each other on our way home about how shocked we still were about the lack of manners or values in men these days. Where have all the good men gone? Long story…if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading.

P.S. On another note, big sis and I had to replenish our Japanese fabrics, so we made a big purchase the other day. I’m so excited for the fabrics to come in. Here is a sneak preview on some of the ones we bought – I’m especially happy to see the apples.

For some reason, I love black fabric, probably because one of my favorite colors is black! So…stay tuned for new dolls and paperweights!
lil sis

My sis and I have been brainstorming ideas and getting all excited by ourselves :) You should hear us on the phone…well, it’s probably just me squealing. It doesn’t take too much for me to get all excited. It’s all about the little things!

So we’ve been talking about Christmas! I know, it’s only July! But we’ve been accepted into another craft fair scheduled for the end of November so I feel as though we have GOT TO GET TO WORK! My brain is like mush these days…can’t seem to remember anything. I have resorted to making lists and going through checklists. Just to let you in on a lil secret, I am super organized but my memory is nowhere to be found! My g-friend always makes fun of me b/c I can’t remember anything! anybody! So my checklist has become my best friend. Yes, it is very sad and I’m so young!

Anyways, we’ll be sure to post pictures of our new projects once we get started. We have lots of ideas that just float around but we never seem to have the time to really complete or even start them! Lil sis, you MUST quit your job! We’ve even talked about hiring people…too funny!

We just posted some paperweights in the shop so be sure to check them out! We’ll be posting some more including big sisters and lil sisters in the upcoming weeks.

Big sis

I know bis sis is still on a high from the craft fair.  I was excited for the fair too, but some other exciting things have been on my mind besides the fair including the fact that I’M HAVING A GIRL!  I had the 4D ultrasound, and it was amazing to see the lil one moving around, covering her face with her hands, and just turning round and round in my belly.

I’m in a bit of a dilemma because I’m in a wedding in August, and I unfortunately cannot fit into my bridesmaid dress because my friend bought it last year in my original size.  BTW, my pregnany was unplanned.  My girlfriend got the bridesmaid dress two sizes bigger, and because she’s my best friend, she said she would suck it up and wear the smaller one for me and I could wear hers!  Makes me so happy that I have such great friends!  She’ll be dieting and walking her dog much more this month just for me!  haha…thanks SKB if you’re reading this.  Granted, we both have to alter our dresses but I’m just crossing my fingers that when I see my alteration lady, everything will work out.

As for my take on the fair, I thought it was great just like Big Sis said.  We met so many wonderful, talented crafters/jewelers that are on etsy as well.  We loved our space location, we thought the turnout was pretty good esp because we didn’t know what to expect as this was our first one, and we learned a lot of tips and information from the other vendors.  We want to do more fairs towards the holiday, but I feel bad because I probably won’t be able to participate because it will be nearing my due date!  Can Big Sis do it alone?  haha I think so…actually I know so.

Thanks for the support everyone!  It was a blast – free popcorn, DJ playing hip-hop and slow jams, and all the wonderful new friends we met!

lil sis

I am pooped! Who knew that working a fair would be so tiring! Quick update while my kids are napping.

The Handmade Brigade was an awesome experience!!! Sis and I had so much fun and met some great crafters! Our “booth neighbor”, Amanda, was able to share so much info with us. She’s no newbie to this so it was so wonderful to chit chat with her. Check out her shop! Jenn from JustJennDesigns had such cute stationary! The one thing my sis and I didn’t get to do was shop, unfortunately. I was nervous to leave her and I didn’t want her to leave me :)

To all those who stopped by…THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT IS SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATED AND WE ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES!!!

All right…enough of the sappiness…here are some pictures from yesterday.

…our handmade sign :)

you think we had enough???

the penguins made their debut…

All in all, it exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to do more! Got to switch gears for now…I have been making dolls nonstop. Think I need a bit of a break and focus my time on my kids’ scrapbook. I’m meeting my old scrapbook consultant (yes, there is such a thing, and yes, I was once one…when I had tons of time, i.e. pre-kids). Need some shortcuts and really want to get their pictures organized!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I have about 15 minutes to close my eyes, fall asleep, and then get woken up by my son!

Oh…we did not sell out so more dolls will be listed in the shop this week. Thanks, lil sis, for creating the widgets for our custom dolls.

Big sis

But I just need to post one more thing…

The pictures overlapped a bit and if I was any good with cropping and the such, then the picture would have turned out to be more of a panoramic one. Oh well…off to bed! Will I be able to sleep at all? or just toss and turn wondering how tomorrow will be :)

Big sis (lil sis snoozing away…)

Have you guys heard of yelp?

Yelp is a community in which you can write and read reviews to almost anything – restaurants, nail salons, car wash places, doctors, etc. Their motto is Real People, Real Reviews.

Well, low and behold, you can even review Etsy users!
