everywhere! Sorry for being MIA. Goodness, it has been non-stop-on-the-go. We have been jam packed with events, activities, just thinking about it makes me tired. We were scheduled to go to Disneyland on Sunday but we all woke up at 9:00 am!!! That is a record for us. I don’t think I’ve slept in until 9 since I had the twins…which would mean 2.5 years ago!!!Just goes to show you that we have all been tired.

The other day my kids and I were eating dinner. They were on to dessert when I decided to pull my car out from the garage and park it on the driveway. I opened the door only to find that my daughter was sobbing, looking for me, and my son was still trying to eat his ice cream while sobbing as well. I didn’t know what happened and assumed they had gotten into a fight. When I got them to quiet down, I asked what was wrong. And my poor son said “mommy, don’t leave. we hear car.” They both thought that I was leaving in the car. It was so sad that I got all choked up…the idea that they were so frightened b/c they heard my car start…well, it was just so sad. You see why I can’t send them to preschool??? :)

Countdown to my sis baby shower…less than 2 weeks away! Will I be ready?

I’m planning on listing some new dolls mid-October. Hopefully lil sis can pick up the slack until then :)

Reminder…our free shipping special ends tomorrow!

big sis

Our lil Halloween doll sold today, so big sis and I are hoping to make a few more…key word is “hoping” before Halloween sneaks up on us.  Stay tuned for some cuties with bat and cat masquerade style masks!

A new doll for Halloween will be in our shop later this afternoon.  She is not dressed up in a costume, so if you take her mask off, she will be a normal lil sis dollie wearing her fave mary jane shoes!

Since big sis has been going to Disneyland lately, I thought I would post this and for all the other readers who visit our blog:

Get into Walt Disney World in Orlando and the Disneyland Resort in California for free on your birthday in 2009. Admission is usually $59 for kids aged 3 to 9 and $69 for anybody age 10 and up. An ever better deal if you have twins!

The deal is available at the four parks in Orlando and the two here ! in So Cal. To get the deal you have to show up at the park on your birthday with proof of your birthday, such as a birth certificate, driver’s license or passport. There are no blackout dates and no purchase is required. Adults get in free on their birthday, too!”

When I was 13 weeks along with my twins, I noticed that the cyst on my thyroid was becoming quite large. It was like an adam’s apple! It was so big that you could see it go up and down every time I swallowed. Of course, I had to go see a specialist, get an ultrasound, and lastly a biopsy! My dr at the time did not help when he mentioned that IF it was cancerous, then they would wait to do the surgery until after my twins were born. WHAT??? Cancer? Why bring it up when I’m ALONE and CRYING in your office, you big, insensitive dork!!! Anyways, it was benign and I just had to live with what I called my goiter :) It finally subsided after I finished nursing the twins but it was a nightmare from start to finish.

So, b/c of this goiter…now just a cyst…prob the size of a grape…I see my new endocrinologist every 6 months. And for the past 2 years, I have received nothing but bad news. My thyroid just seemed to be quitting on me, which was making me a bit sad. I thought of everything to combat it. But just so you know, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING you can do. Mind over matter though, right? I decided to eat normal portions (I was eating like a maniac b/c I was nursing my twins) and I hit the gym…hardcore too! I was going like 3-4 times in the evening, after spending all day with the kids, and having close to zero energy. Hey, I wasn’t about to just wait it out and see if my thyroid was going to collapse on me…I was going to be proactive! I thought that if I could live a healthy lifestyle and my thyroid still decided to “die”, then at least I would have no regrets. Did it work? I am happy to say that my thyroid level is almost in the normal range…not quite there but I’m not in the fifth percentile anymore (meaning 95% of the population have thyroid levels better than me). HOORAY!!!

So the next q I had to ask my dr was…is it safe to have another baby? or will I stress my thyroid again to the point of no return??? Answer…nobody knows. That’s medicine for you!

I am in no rush but it has been on my mind as of late. Could it be b/c my sis due date is nearing? that my kids are growing up so quickly? that I just visited a girlfriend of mine who has an infant? prob all reasons combined. but one thing I know for sure…I still have that “itch”. I don’t feel like I’m completely done. And with my thyroid being a happy camper…who knows.

Don’t take your health for granted! and NEVER underestimate the power of your mind! Happy Tuesday!

Will be in the shop very soon!

Big sis, my bro-in-law, and my hubs all make fun of me for being a miniature version of my mom.  Hence, my nickname is “Mini-mom”.  There are little things my mom and I have in common such as liking Asian decor, enjoying the same weird foods, and our love for frozen grapes.  Ever since I got pregnant, I’ve been wanting to eat frozen grapes (btw, they have to be green…red grapes don’t have the same tart flavor) on a weekly basis.  I call them candy because I try to stay away from real candy because I just can’t afford gaining more weight.  :O(

If you haven’t tried freezing grapes, I highly recommend it because it’s healthier than your normal dessert and it’s really satisfying on a hot day even though we’re inching towards fall.

I’ll leave ya with a pic of my last custom doll order.  This was for a pair of paperweights for a soon-to-be married couple.  Since I’m finally done with the custom orders this week, I’m going to try my hardest to finish up a Halloween dollie set to debut this Thursday…

CURRENTLY ON THE TOP OF MY LIST…b/c it’s that time of the year, I suppose…

1. mosquito bites!!! AAAHHHH!!! I have another duty on my already long list of things to do…I am in charge of watering our plants :( It’s a love/hate relationship…that I have with my yard. I want it to look nice but but I can’t give it my all (not enough alone time to pull weeds, encourage my plants to be healthy, fertilize, etc.), so I end up doing a half-a**ed job. Anyways, this usually means I water right before the sun goes down…which also means all the mosquitos come out to feast on me. OH! how I despise their bites and all the itchiness that comes along with it. I got so paranoid that I washed ALL my bedding last night.Yes, out of fear that they were all inside my bed feasting on me as well!

2. paper cuts! Those cuts are so tiny but SOOO painful! and worse are those darn cuts you get from file folders!

3. birds. Now usually this is on the top of my list but b/c I haven’t been around too many, it’s down to number 3. Why do I loathe these creatures? Not all but ALOT of them look like rats with wings! and just imagine all the germs they carry with them! GROSS me out! Why do I have this “phobia”? In my young days, I remember stepping on a dead sparrow and just being traumatized. And I remember a bird swooping down on my father’s head and being terrified. and NO, it is not due to the Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds. But that movie is gross too!

That was a short list. I can’t seem to think of anything else and here I thought there were alot of things I detest.

Countdown to my sis shower…3 weeks left. Too bad I can’t share with you all the details of the shower. It’s a little nerve wracking that I won’t be able to see the place until the day before but that just means I have to be super prepared. I have lots of ideas but I can’t seem to function. You ever have those moments when you just have so much to do that you become paralyzed…not literally…and then just blow everything off? And I’m not talking about just the shower, lil sis, so no worries.

What is on my mind currently besides the shower? let’s see…Halloween: what does my son want to dress up as??? He changes his mind daily. One day he wants to be Buzz Lightyear, another day he wants to be a pirate (even though he’s scared of them), some days he says he doesn’t want to wear a mask, other days he says he wants to wear one. What will I make for the kids at our mommy and me class? I have a cute idea from Martha Stewart but will I be able to make 25 45 (I forgot that we take 2 mommy and me classes) paper mache pumpkins? Will I be able to make 100 dolls this winter??? Yes, these silly but very important (to me and probably only me) things cross my mind at least once a day…that is, when I have time to think :)

Sis and I are both busy doing some custom orders. We are still busy pluggin’ away. Funny…both her and I said that we wanted to take a short break but I guess her break won’t happen until Dec (her due date) and mine? who knows. I shouldn’t complain…I am very happy that other people like our dollies :) And most importantly, I proved my husband wrong! He thought our dolls were cute but didn’t know if “there was a market out there…blah, blah, blah” (I love that I can make fun of him here).

Anyways, another tired day = hodgepodge post.

I’ll leave you with this…

Ashley is currently in the shop.

So the last couple of times we’ve visited Disneyland, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage line has been SO. VERY. LONG. The last time the kids and I went, we arrived ten minutes after 9 (when they open) and the line was already 30 minutes long! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Where do these people come from? So I had to ask one of the workers…why? how? is it worth it? My husband and I have not been on this ride since it has been remodeled so we just couldn’t understand. So we made it our mission on Sunday to be the first ones in line…or at least one of the first few peops in line. We arrived at Disneyland 5 minutes before it opened. They allow you into the park prior to 9 but little did we know, you have to wait on Main Street like a herd of animals. And I’m talking a HERD! Someone said a lil something on the speaker and some bell rings and we are off! Now mind you…there is a prize at the end of this race! NOT!

Husband’s job? push the wide bus that we call a stroller. My job? lead the way. But it doesn’t always work that way, esp when you have a husband who is highly competitive and can easily stray when he has another plan that he never let you in on! So I’m leading the way when I notice he loses sight of me. No, he does not stop to get his bearing but instead goes off on another path! WHY? such a man thing to do! Meanwhile, I can see that we are about to lost this race. I stop, get his attention, and we finally make it to the line. Let me tell you…we hauled butt! and we were not the first few…the wait was already 20 minutes! OMG! HOW? WHY? IS IT REALLY WORTH IT? In the midst of our made-up race, we almost lost our daughter. THE PANIC!!! I was waiting in line and husband was taking the kids out of the stroller and parking it when he tells my 2-year-old daughter to go find me in line. WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!!! so my cute lil daughter does just that…makes a beeline to the front of the line. It was a few seconds that we didn’t know where she was but it was so frightening.

The big question…was it worth it? NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. My kids got scared that it was so dark in there…that the submarine shook when it went under…that scary, horrible, sharks with their mouths wide open and their sharp teeth exposed would pop out in the dark…Ugh. Well, at least now I know and I guess that makes me a better person.

big sis

If you guessed this lil birdie was a parrot, then you were absolutely right!

So I’ve been thinking of some Halloween-type ideas for the shop and I thought it would be perfect to create a lil pirate sprinkles! Here she is in all her glory…

She is a cutie patootie! She has a lovely pocket with bones embroidered on it to hold her accessories; can’t see the bones here in these pictures but you can check it out here. As far as accessories, she has a bandana that that can be tied but not removed. She has a removable eye patch made specifically for her head size. And most importantly, you ain’t a pirate unless you have a parrot! The parrot’s feathers were individually sewn by hand and I was able to make the beak a bit crooked just with a needle and some thread! She is in the shop as we speak…as I type :)

Happy Monday!

big sis

I finished a custom order made especially for a mommy soon to deliver her second girl in October.  The theme of the baby shower is Baby Sprinkles, so the auntie thought it would be fitting to get her sister a lil sprinkles duo.

Here are some pics of the dolls:

Working with denim is a bit tricky because the denim tends to have more stretch than the cotton fabric.  I found some thicker denim at Joann’s the other day, so I’ll try that out on my next custom order.  Bis sis and I are focused on getting our inventory ready for our upcoming fair.

More info will be posted on when/where soon!  Stay tuned!
