Every 6 months I try my best to get myself all ready to go see this special someone. Even though I only see him a whole 5-10 minutes, I try to prep myself. It is all out of laziness that I slack off in this area and it’s really horrible that I do but I just can’t help it. Us moms do that alot…put ourselves last…for me, it’s out of convenience. I just don’t want one more thing to do!!! especially if it’s not enjoyable. He really is a sweet man; a quiet man, but you can tell that if he were to get angry, it would be scary. This quiet man says very few words and when he speaks, I almost feel like I’m being scolded. I can only see his eyes but they say it all. I become this lil girl who’s scared of his wrath and promises to do as he says. But deep down inside I know the truth; I will follow through for the first month and then go back to my ol’ ways because in all honesty…I HATE TO FLOSS!!!

Since the shop has been stocked…somewhat stocked…and I am finally able to sew at my leisure, it has been lots of fun. No deadlines, no pressure, no stress, just plain ol’ enjoyable. I always feel like “there needs to be more this color hair doll or this size” but I’m content…today.

I just finished up some more paperweights, which I am adoring. These were lots of fun to make.

The Chloe and Brady paperweights will be listed in the shop this week.

for trying to go out on a date with my husband! So the husband and I didn’t get a chance to go out for V-day due to various reasons and always talked about going to Disneyland by ourselves so we found the perfect opportunity. TODAY!

We dropped the kids off at my in-laws not telling a single soul where we were going…don’t know why. But I felt awfully guilty about it…as if I had to sneak off. My daughter who is in the stage of wanting to know EVERYTHING kept asking where we were going but I just avoided the question. What is the big deal? Am I not allowed to have some fun without the kids?!?! Sheesh!

Anyways, we get to Disneyland only to find the trams were not running. Don’t waste time…so we walk it. It’s really not that far from the parking lot to the entrance but what holds you back are ALL the other patrons who decide to walk it too! Lil background…husband lived in New York for about 8 years or so so he seems to get in that NY mindset when there are crowds or we have to hustle. So we are zooming past the crowds and then we get to security (yes, they check your bags even BEFORE you get your tickets), we stop. no movement. My husband tracks down an employee only to find that there was a “security” issue and we would have to stand around like a herd of cows hoping to get in to the happiest place on earth. We didn’t want to wait for 30 min…an hour…possibly longer (what we were told). So what do we do? Head to IKEA for our date! ugh!

Wait…there’s a silver lining! I got to shop without the kids, which meant I only had to worry about my husband telling me to hurry up. We found out later the cause of all the mayhem. There was some powdery dust found on several of the windows of the ticket booths so they shut the entrance area down until they determined what the substance was…FINE SAND!!! UGH!!!

My husband and I have talked alot about rearranging our office specifically b/c I SO DESPERATELY want a craft area. Granted, I don’t too much in the office b/c the lighting isn’t all that great and the main reason…very sad reason…but a reason nonetheless, we have no TV in the office. Now I’m not one to believe that every room in the house needs a TV. I am actually VERY opposed to having a TV in the kid’s room. My husband, on the other hand, grew up with a TV in his room and remembers the “joys” of having one. I, on the other hand, did not have a TV in my room until I was in grad school!!! AND my sis and I grew up without cable…don’t believe I discovered it until I was in college. Yes, we lived a “sheltered” life. Anyways, I am so utterly excited at the idea of having my own space! My husband is very kind about sharing the office with me (I actually take more than half the room with my “junk”) but I would love to have my own desk, where I can put this and that and be oh-so-organized.

The only problem? my husband takes forever and a day to get things done. Sometimes on purpose :) but really it’s b/c he has so little time. His job at the “factory” (he tells the kids this ALL the time…i.e., that he works in a factory pulling 12 hour shifts…as a joke, of course. not a funny one but whatever!) gets in the way of our lives :) I really shouldn’t joke about this. I am extremely thankful for his job, which ultimately allows me to stay at home with the kids.

So, I am on a search for the perfect desk for him. He’s a bit particular…like me :) I’ll have to do some window shopping (on the internet, of course) and put together a list for him. Afterall, I must get the ball rolling if this room will become a dream come true!

Here’s a custom doll I completed in record time. I was able to finish her in 2 evenings (compared to 3-4…sometimes 5 if I get stuck with how to accessorize). I must still be on my sugar high (from yesterday)…

Stacey, you guessed it!!! It’s a tissue cozy! My husband asks “is this really necessary?” MEN! I say “absolutely!” Just makes your ugly-looking-plastic-tissue-cover that much cuter! And when I take it out of my bag (full of tricks), it makes me smile :) It’s my new thing!

Oh, and can I tell you…I just LOVE LINEN! I love the look of it…the feel of it…the versatility of it…I think I’m on a sugar high (just got back from Chuck E Cheese but funny, didn’t eat anything sugary).

I knew she was coming yesterday but b/c of the rain and us being out and about, I was so worried that she would get all soaked and ruined. Well, the UPS man was so very kind to have wrapped up the box in 2 plastic bags and thankfully, my sewing machine arrived safely. I IMMEDIATELY got to work. You know I could not wait. Plus, it was perfect timing. My kids were napping and husband was at the gym.

Now, if only there was a way to “customize” my machine. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a beauty (just my over-excitement talking) but she is LOUD! and there are a couple of other features that my Brother’s had that she doesn’t. Even my husband (who knows nothing about sewing machines) said that it “looked” better, sturdier??? We shall see. For now, I’m optimistic that she will become my BFF, my partner in crime, my late night friend…you see how I get so giddy over the silliest things. That’s my life!

Can you tell what I’ve been up to? Hmmm…what could it be? Here’a another angle…

I’ve been emotionally preparing myself for potty training my twins for about a month. Afterall, they say it generally happens when the mommy (or the trainer) is committed to the process. So we began a week ago. How? How do you train 2 toddlers simultaneously? Well, nothing is ever simultaneous with my twins so it worked out for me.

My son was very eager especially since his reward was watching Cars (Disney movie). He LOVES it…I mean LOVES it. He can talk about all the cars, watch the DVD over and over again, play with them morning, noon, and night! Too bad I only allow him to watch 10 min of it! So strange how my daughter is SO very resistant to it considering she does not like being dirty/sticky/stained. Don’t they say that girls tend to do things quicker? Not my daughter…she is super content in diapers and will let you know it too! But don’t think I didn’t try. sigh…

Anyways, looks like my son will be potty trained before her. This was the big milestone I was dreading. I still very much dislike doing it. With everything I have to do, potty training is just another thing I have to be on my toes for. Even with him, it seems as though it will take some time. If only I had done more research on Elimination Communication when they were younger. I know it’s a bit controversial and I don’t think I would have been able to do it with two, but it’s definitely good info to have. For all you moms who nursed, can you imagine your baby having a bowel movement somewhere other than in a diaper…esp the explosive ones (sorry, TMI). Yikes!

I am excited to finally “meet” my new sewing machine :) It’s scheduled to arrive this Monday. And I have some projects already lined up! Of course, the first test I will run is the “zipper foot” test. Oh, I hope she passes!

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s and you were able to share the day with your loved ones!

big sis (and lil sis)

The timing of all the horrible stuff related to my Brother’s sewing machine was perfect! I almost forgot that Valentine’s Day was right around the corner! While I LOVE holidays…any kind of holiday where you can decorate and give away goodies to kids, I particularly don’t love to make batches and batches and batches of “things”. But that’s what I get for signing my kids up for all these classes. So for the past 3 days, I’ve been making treats galore! I knew I wasn’t going to be able to bake 50 plus cookies without resenting them (the cookies, that is) so I googled away. And here’s what I ended up making.

v-day-09-004

PINK heart shaped rice krispy treat lollipops! I was able to make 25 from start to finish during their nap so it’s definitely doable if you don’t want to spend too much time making treats for your kid’s classmates. (By the way, I had to make almost 60 of these!) Follow the recipe on the box and add red food coloring to your butter and marshmallow mix. I chose to go pink but I’m assuming if you add lots of coloring, you could get it to be red. This is what mine looked like before adding the cereal.

v-day-09-001

Here’s the tricky part…when you get to the cookie cutter part, you need to pack as much rice krispy mix into the cutter. This way, your heart will be firm and your lollipop stick can penetrate without your heart falling apart.

v-day-09-002

v-day-09-003

If you pack it tight, then your treat should look like this from the side.

AND you MUST work fast. You need your rice krispy to be sticky and “moldable”. To prevent your hands from getting super sticky and preventing the rice krispy from sticking completely to the cookie cutter, I just dipped my hands/cookie cutter into a bowl of water. You can also use nonstick cooking spray.

Now…how to wrap them up? I bought those lollipop wrappers from Wilton’s. and my heart shape fit PERFECTLY. If my hearts were any bigger, I would have been in trouble. That’s it! I got alot of oohs and aahs from the kids AND mommies so I believe they were a hit.

For the teachers? I love chocolates. I’m not into all that fancy stuff…although I can appreciate it. But I just LOVE See’s. My fav? The marshmallow/caramel one…you know which one I’m talking about? I have no idea what they are called. Those are the first ones I go for! Anyways, I bought a box of choco for the teachers but I also wanted to give them something homemade/handmade. In the absence of my sewing machine…I was forced to bake. I baked Giada De Laurentis’ banana muffins but the twist…I baked them in Reynold’s heart shape muffin tins.

v-day-09-007

I opted to leave out the frosting b/c remember, I’m not a frosting fan :) This recipe is also very sweet in my opinion. I had already decreased the sugar to about 1 cup and 3/4 (instead of 2 cups) but I may have to decrease it even more.

So all of my treats have been shared and given away! I hope you have tons of fun making those V-day’s treats!

I love Ziploc’s bag and containers.  I put her paci in a mini sandwich bag and her new diapers in a storage bag.  I noticed after awhile the bag filled with diapers would look old and run down after opening it so many times.  It bothered me so much, but I didn’t want to keep using a new bag.  I hate wasting…something I learned from my mil after living w/ her the past couple of months!

Last night after Lila went down, I had about an hour of free time and made a drawstring bag for my diapers.  It felt exhilirating to sew again.  A stress reliever perhaps?  It was nice because I was still able to spend time with my hubby.  We bought a new desk for our office big enough so that one end is my sewing area and the other is for the computer.  While I sewed, he facebooked!
