So I have been on the search for the perfect crowns for my twins…to wear during their birthday parties. I came across Mommy Blessings Crown Tutorials Galore post and opted to create Juicy Bits’ crowns. I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to design my twins’ crowns…do I include the number 3 (how old they will be)? initials? logos? And b/c I just got back from vacation and wasn’t feeling overambitious, I kept it simple. My son’s took a lil longer b/c of the batman logo but I managed to complete them in 2 evenings. I definitely agree with Jessica in using a heavyweight interface. Her tuturial is super easy to follow and both my daughter and son were excited to wear their crowns!

crowns-001my daughter requested for green? all of a sudden, her fav color is no longer pink but green???

crowns-003my son also wanted green so it works out perfectly. They can still match but not be so matchy matchy (I am not a mommy of twins who feels the need for everything to match).

So after all that hemming and hawing about the kids’ birthday party…I am having 3 parties for them! I go from one extreme to another. ugh! I have some serious problems. To make my life more complicated…do I make the favors or shall I just buy?

My husband and I had our date night. Yes, I managed to gamble :) I lost but the important thing is I played! We squeezed in a few spa treatments. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy it b/c my tummy was still hurting from all the mayhem at the buffet. BUT the biggest thing I learned while I was in Vegas…I FREAKIN’ LOVE BINGO!!! I dragged my husband along and if you’ve read prior posts about my husband, you’ll get the sense that he is not one to be caught playing bingo. But he did it for me and wouldn’t you know…he ended up getting not 1 but 2 bingos! The nerve!

So here’s the set up b/c I know you all are wondering…

The bingo room is HUGE! I’m talking HUGE. They have electronic versions where all you do is watch your portable screen and wait for a beep (one away from bingo) and the music (you have bingo). They also have a paper version, which I opted for b/c seriously, what fun is it to just sit for an hour and stare at a monitor! No thanks. I need to feel the anxiety, the rush, the fear that I’ve missed a number. I need to be able to ask my husband “what number did they call? do you see the number? did I miss a number? am I close to getting a bingo?” 14 bingo games (single bingo, double bingo, hardway, coverall)  in one hour, no intermission, no bathroom breaks, don’t have time to order a dang cocktail, ALL FUN! It took some time to learn the lingo but after my first session, I was hooked! My husband, who played the electronic version, also had some learning to do and at one point (and b/c he has a bad memory and forgot the instructions) yelled out BINGO when he clearly did not have it. We had a good laugh but I must say, it was quite embarrassing. Of course, the rest of the time, he had to joke about it, wanting to call it out one more time.

dauber(“dauber” used to mark the squares)

I ended up dragging my mother-in-law a separate time to play and got her hooked. and then stayed up until midnight to get one more session in. It was a good thing b/c I finally got a bingo. Excitedly, I yelled it out as loud as I could but a gal in front me also had one. Way to steal my thunder!

I need to do some searching…where else can I play bingo?

I believe it’s been about three years since I’ve had a doughnut.  After the Krispy Kreme craze, I really never had a craving to go out and actually buy doughnuts.  My hubby surprised me this weekend with breakfast in a pink box! THE PINK DOUGHNUT BOX!  Btw, how come those boxes are always pink? Strange but I likey!

img_1836I told him what kind of doughnut I liked years ago, and I can’t believe he still remembered.  Which one do you think it is???

the plain one!

I guess you can say I feel a little less guilty about eating a plain cake type doughnut versus those sugary, powered, creme filled doughnuts. It was delish! Makes me want to make this a weekend ritual.

We’re back and what a great vacation it was! We had a blast and quite honestly, I am a bit sad that our vacation was so short. I know, what the heck do you do in Vegas if #1 you’re not on the strip and #2 you have kids! Well, husband found a great deal at the Red Rock Casino and we managed to book a suite with an adjoining room for his parents. The minute I stepped in, I knew we were going to have loads of fun.

Our mornings were spent here…

The weather was PERFECT (in the 90s). We spent alot of time in the arcade, managed to bowl, and the rest of the time we spent EATING! Yikes! So much food and how can you resist those buffets? I, unfortunately, don’t know what moderation means. Yes, I had tummy aches for two nights! It was worth it and I would eat the same amount if not more in a heart beat! Oh, how I love yummy food!

good to be back.

What do you do with that extra scrap left over?  I’m not talking about the small itty bitty scraps but the in between size scraps.  Do you know what I’m talking about?  They’re too big to cut up to use for a small project because the rest will surely go to waste, and they’re just a little too small for what you’re looking for.

I used my in between sizers to make this ~

I call it the four square drawstring bag.  It’s lined too!

I’m so in love with fabric bags, big or small.  I use one to hold Lila’s diapers, another to hold my toiletries when traveling, a small one for my sunglasses bc I can’t seem to find where the case went, etc.

Yay, my scraps aren’t going to waste!  Now what do I do with those tiny pieces that I just can’t seem to throw away??

or should the title have been VEGAS, BABY, VEGAS Part Deux. In any case, we are planning our 2nd adventure (with the kids) to Vegas. This time, we will be flying. Yikes! 2 toddlers + hour flight during their nap time = possible trouble. I am bringing bags full of snacks AND toys. I DO NOT want to be the parent of 2 screaming, tantrumming kids. No…I don’t think it will be bad at all. They are looking forward to being on a plane (2nd time flying but no recollection of flying to Hawaii when they were 18 months old) and returning to Vegas. We are all quite excited.

On the agenda? My in-laws are coming along so we have spa treatments lined up, swimming (in 90 degree weather!!!), bowling (they have one in the hotel!), possibly their first movie, lots of eating, playing Bingo (I’ll explain that later), and hopefully a date night with my husband.

So remember me telling you that lil sis and I lived a “sheltered” life? Well, since we didn’t have cable and we were only really allowed to watch TV for short periods of time, I spent ALOT of time working on puzzles, glueing them down on cardboard (c’mon, you know you did this or wanted to do this and then hang it up in your room!), playing boardgames (LIFE was my fav! oh, and Mousetrap!), so on. So imagine my happiness when I discovered that the hotel hosts bingo ALL DAY LONG! I’m talking high-tech Bingo. None of that paper and chips Bingo…those slippery chips that can’t seem to stay in place! I am so excited as I’m sure all the other 60 years olds are too! They have one scheduled at 11 pm so I can sneak down and play for an hour before bed. Oh, the joy! the thrill! I’m a bit timid when it comes to gambling. I can stand around for HOURS watching and watching, pretending I’m playing, but when the time comes, I forget how to count, how much money I have, how much I’ve lost. All b/c of my husband! Back when he was younger, he was a bit of a gambler…NOT in he needs to go to Gamblers Anonymous kind of way…but he scared taught me about the do’s and don’ts of gambling so I just end up getting frazzled. Plus, I’d rather lose my money on clothes or shoes :) Bingo…I can handle.

Lil sis will be holding down the fort. Hope you and Lila don’t get too bored :)

See you in a week!

Hubs was so happy to come home on Friday.  He rushed through the door to open a package that had come in the mail that day.  What was it you ask…a keyboard and mouse?  It’s a special one he said.  He hooked it up via bluetooth w/ the PS3, and voila, the next thing I knew Google was on my TV!

This is trouble, big time.  I am such a sucker for surfing the web.  I can be on ebay hours on end.  CNN catching up on the news.  Personal emails which then leads to g-chatting.  Blogging, like I am doing now!  Etsy, of course. Loading up pics of my daughter on Flickr for my in-laws.  List goes on and on. I can just see it now.  I’ll be sitting on the couch, table mate over my lap, glued to the TV!

Just like him -

tablemate

My hubs got suckered into buying one last year, but it was the best investment.  That thing saved my life when I was pregnant…I propped my feet up and hubs set my dinner plate on that tray everyday.

Anyhow, that’s me.  Instead of dinner, it will be the special keyboard and mouse on the tray…

Lil sis says that EVERYONE and their mothers have probably seen/heard about Susan Boyle. But if by chance, you haven’t, you should definitely check her out.

Sorry…don’t know how to paste the actual video. I know, I suck. My husband showed me the clip last night and I just got chills. I’m a bit of a sucker for happy endings. Who isn’t?! I’m the one who tears up during the old Kodak commercials…ooh’s and aah’s over the De Beers commercials…I’m just cheesy like that :)

I stopped watching tv while I’m with Lila because I noticed she was becoming a tv junkie at the age of two months.  Let me tell you, my TIVO is so full!!!  I haven’t been able to catch up on my shows.  The only show I’ll stay up to watch is American Idol.  Btw, what was up with the new judging format?  I hated hearing just two judges comment per contestant…I want to hear what Simon says everytime!

Anyhow, I snuck in some Regis & Kelly this morning and heard them talking about Gmail’s panic button.  Where was this five years ago?  Basically Gmail has this “Undo” button you can click after you have sent your email, and it will stop it from sending.  Catch is you have within 5 seconds to click that button.  Short delay but worth it for that one email that you would later regret sending.  I’ve had many emails go out under my name that I wish never got sent out – many misspelled words, wrong name chosen under my address list, pissed off emails…etc.  Now what I really would like is an undo button for my phone so that text messages can be cancelled!  Have you ever sent a text meant for someone else?

lil sis

it would be her…

need-to-list-048

there’s something about her. Maybe the pink and the denim, the pink buttons on her Mary Jane’s, the embroidery on her pocket, the scarf that seems to complete her outfit, or maybe just the sweet look on her face.
