As mentioned before, we get such great ideas from our buyers…the only problem is we do not always have time to bring them to fruition. Yes, even with 2 bodies at full capacity (meaning, neither one of us is preggers), our current inventory is the most we can do for our shop. We recently completed a custom request and what a great idea it was…
personalized linen zipper pouches for her bridal party
Measurements: 5.25″ wide by 4.25″ tall. Perfect size to put in one’s Christmas stocking, no?

Things have finally calmed down. Custom orders have been completed, classes for the twins are completely over, and I can now take a break before mommy-and-me preschool, swim class, and ballet for my daughter begin in a few weeks. To celebrate my mini break, my husband and I are FINALLY taking an overnight trip WITHOUT the kids. I repeat…WITHOUT the kids. We contemplated for some time about when would be the perfect moment but let’s get real, there is NO perfect time to be apart for 2 days from your children. We waited this long for various reasons but mainly, I know how challenging it is to care for two kids who are developmentally at about the same level and whose needs need to be met pretty immediately before meltdowns occur. I was not ready to place this wonderful burden on someone else until now. They are 3, my husband and I have not taken a trip by ourselves for 4 years, and my in laws are ready and willing so…PERFECT TIME. But I must admit, I am a bit worried, a lil sad, and excited all at the same time. I’m sure this will all go away once I am roasting in the sun, drinking cocktails, enjoying a quiet dinner where I can actually chew and taste my food, perhaps watch a movie, and the most exciting part…SLEEP IN PAST 7 AM!
I’m just a tad bit worried…will they miss me? will they cry b/c they want to see me? will they NOT? How sad would that make me!!!???
Anyways, I will be back in a few days. hopefully a bit red (b/c I don’t tan that easily), refreshed, and ready to sew!

in the shop.
See you in a few!

A custom wedding duo has been completed and they are on their way to the wedding-present-giver . Big sis and I teamed up to create this pair, and we’re diggin the personalized book and record.

The gift giver wanted the paperweights to be wearing regular outfits versus wedding gear, and she knew exactly what she was looking for in terms of fabric choices, colors, items to be holding, etc. We love specific requests!

We were so excited when the the lovely Rose from The Scarlet Peacock wanted to do a lil feature on us and our shop. Her blog is super cute and spotlights lots of Etsy shops. So, swing on over and learn how you can win a free gift from us!

So lil sis and I both agreed that we would take a short break from sewing post-Renegade but after the positive feedback we got from those who visited our booth, our custom doll listings magically appeared in our shop. So our one week break became obsolete but all for very good reasons. Afterall, one should NOT deprive a lil girl of a dollie! Lil sis worked on a red head with blue eyes.

Too cute! We are definitely going to have to experiment with different color eyes on our dolls. Wait a sec…I’m having a deja vu moment.
This lil sis is flying all the way to the UK.

This past week has been busy with convos (aka emails). We have gotten some pretty interesting requests…bride and groom, to make a doll pattern for another shop. Hmmm…unfortunately, lil sis and I have very little time to craft so when we do get that extra hour here and there, it is always for ourselves or the shop. I’m already starting a get a bit nervous for the winter. Lila will be having her very 1st birthday party and you know lil sis is going ALL OUT! We are 4 months away and lil sis has already asked for my help! You can be sure lots of sewing will be involved.
With all the holidays, festivities, shopkeeping…you think it’s too early to start making Halloween and Christmas gift bags for the twins’ classmates? Maybe I should start X-mas shopping. Where are my checklists???

I’ve never been the type to splurge. I think it’s the way I was raised and that is def one of the things I’d like to pass on to my kids. i.e., how to be an “efficient” shopper (yeah, I know…whatever that means!) See, I’m not like my husband, who likes to hem and haw over an item and then eventually buy only to return it a week later. sigh. so. tiring. I’m the one who will look and look and if I find myself thinking about it, I know it’s something I must purchase. so tiring too, I’m sure
I wasn’t always like this. I’m sure it has to do with me staying at home AND having my kids’ future to think about. Anyways, so when I find something I really like, I get super excited about it!
I purchased a few journals at Renegade and everytime I look at them on my desk, I get so giddy over them.

How cute are they? They are recycled book covers (plus a few sheets of the actual book pages scattered amongst blank acid free paper) that have been re-bound into a journal/sketchbook.

What a great idea! and seriously, who could resist these classics. They can be found here. I hope I can eventually write/doodle/checklist in them.
So now that Renegade is over, I kinda feel lost. For the past 2 months, I was a mad woman sewing until the wee hours. And now? Gosh. What to do with myself. My house is cleaned. My lovely desk is organized. Yes, the shop needs some updating and lil sis and I are working on that at the moment. My 3 year old son wants a strap for his guitar. WHAT? I’m crafty but WHAT? I’m secretly hoping that he will forget about it just like he did with his cape, mask, KISS costume (WHAT?!). And I’m completely happy with my Altoids box. I think I will give myself a week off before I get to work on items for winter. the things I do to stress myself out.

The past weekend was full of exciting things…b-day party, mother’s day dinner, presents, and e-mails! you know, the e-mails that you anxiously wait for, the ones that make you refresh your computer every few minutes, the ones that make you and your sis text back and forth. oh…is it just me?
So it looks like the craziness will continue way into the summer. We’ve been accepted to be vendors at Handmade Brigade and the Renegade Craft Fair!!! I honestly don’t know how we are going to do it and I’m thinking we over-extended ourselves. Lil sis is already getting stressed and my brain has become…mush. Should it be this stressful? Even I, who is SO organized that it’s sickening (according to my husband), feel that this is not doable. What to do? Nevertheless, it is awesome news!
the poor ol’ shop…looks like we won’t be updating the shop until after the fairs.
Let the sew fest begin!

Update: We pulled ourselves out of Handmade Brigade
So sad but needed to do for our own sanity.
Since the shop has been stocked…somewhat stocked…and I am finally able to sew at my leisure, it has been lots of fun. No deadlines, no pressure, no stress, just plain ol’ enjoyable. I always feel like “there needs to be more this color hair doll or this size” but I’m content…today.
I just finished up some more paperweights, which I am adoring. These were lots of fun to make.

The Chloe and Brady paperweights will be listed in the shop this week.
